The 2011 Colonial Beach Awards Dinner was held on March 29th at Wilkerson’s Seafood Restaurant. There were approximately 100 representatives from our local area businesses there to congratulate this year’s winners. Congressman Rob Wittman gave a wonderful key note address to start the evening off. Gas prices and Obamacare were the hot topics of the night.
Honored at the Awards Dinner were Dockside Restaurant and Blue Herron Pub. They received the Business of the Year award for all of the hard work that they have given to various different Chamber and community activities. In addition, they work hard to remain open year round for residents to continue patronage at. They set up different activities including trivia night and have enjoyed continued success in a down economy.
In addition to the Business of the Year award, the Chamber is proud to announce Caitlin Davis of Tides Inn and Market received the Business Person of the Year award for all of her contributions.
The Police Officer of the Year award went to Sgt. Phelps of the Colonial Beach police department. Sgt. Phelps has put in many hours and offered to cancel his vacation to come in to work when the department was short staffed.
Sylvia Buffkin was honored for all of her dedicated service to the Colonial Beach Chamber of Commerce over the years. She has spent many years on the Chamber Board of Directors as well as served as the Chamber Treasurer for many years.
We would like to congratulate all the honorees as well as our Volunteers that received certificates on the evening of the 29th. If you are interested in Volunteering within the Chamber of Commerce, please complete our online Chamber Volunteer Interest Form!
