Family Vacation in Colonial Beach
Small Town Charm #CrushFriday
Home of the Lees of Virginia
Westmoreland Berry Farm
Busy schedules make it almost impossible to get everyone together for a family vacation, but you have finally done it!
You arrive in Colonial Beach on Friday and check into your cozy cottage. First on your list is having a golf cart delivered to you from one of our 2 golf cart rental shops. All aboard for a cruise around town including the 3-mile drive around “The Point” with continual water views of the Potomac River and Monroe Bay. Friday afternoon is spent relaxing and playing on the second longest sandy beach in Virginia. Forgot some of your beach gear? Many of our retail stores carry a full line of all your beach needs. A quick bite to eat from one of our boardwalk food vendors and more time spent floating on your new family-sized inflatable boat. The family is back on the golf cart Friday evening for a run around town to pick up a variety of carry-out food. Make sure to include dessert to round out dinner…after-all…you are on vacation! As evening falls, it’s back to the boardwalk for a stroll, listing to live music from the Tiki bar and one last dip in the river.
Saturday you visit Stratford Hall, the Lee family home and the filming site of the television series “Turn”, with a stop on the way back to pick some berries at Westmoreland Berry Farm. Afternoon it’s time to rent a kayak and see our beaches, wildlife and birds from the water side. Paddle down to the town pier for a couple of hours of fishing and watching the boats and jet skis go by. Evening is time for a family dinner out at one of our waterfront restaurants followed by a ride down Monroe Bay for an incredible sunset.
