A Romantic Get-Away to Colonial Beach
Just the two of you #CrushFriday
Colonial Beach Boardwalk
Virginia Tourism LOVE sculpture
Friday is almost here and you want a long weekend away with your love. A Romantic Weekend in Colonial Beach is just what you have been dreaming of.
You choose a stay at one of our beach cottages. You can hear the water lap the shore while taking in the gorgeous vista. After you have comfortably checked into your accommodation on Friday, you relax while watching the eagles fly and the stars sparkle in the big sky over the Potomac River. A golf cart ride around “The Point” with picturesque views of the Potomac, Monroe Bay, and 7 marinas prepares you for a delicious meal. Colonial Beach has several amazing dining options including international food choices such as Thai, French, Chinese, Italian, and American. Seafood is fresh and plentiful, even in the off-season. After dinner, you indulge in a night cap while listening to live music at one of our many music venues, then bundle up and walk hand-in-hand along the 2nd longest sandy beach in Virginia before turning in for the night.
A perfect getaway destination
Saturday morning finds you refreshed and rejuvenated. Sneak out of your cottage to the local coffee shop for a surprise French press and fresh pastry for your loved one. Make reservations at a local Salon for a couple’s massage and have a leisurely lunch in one of our international restaurants. In the afternoon, call our local Taxi company to provide transportation to/from one or more of our local Wineries. You can find your favorites by sampling their wines in the Tasting Rooms. Once found, bring a bottle home as reminder of your perfect weekend. The evening brings you back to the cottage and you have a special surprise planned. You contacted a local chef and arranged a sumptuous dinner for two which is waiting for you in the privacy of your cottage. Take a warm winter walk among the boats at one of our marinas at sunset to top off an amazing day.
St. Elizabeth’s Catholic Church
Sunday morning may find you at one of our local churches before heading to a delicious brunch overlooking the water. After brunch, a day of historical exploration is in store. Start by visiting the Museum at Colonial Beach on the corner of Washington and Hawthorn Streets. After you have learned a bit about Colonial Beach history, check out American history at James Monroe Birthplace, Washington Birthplace National Monument, and/or Stratford Hall. You’ve had a full and romantic weekend, but before you head home…one more surprise has been planned. On a quiet stretch of the beach, in late afternoon, our local civil marriage commissioner is waiting to renew your commitment. Fait accompli!
